GUY P. RYAN concentrates his practice in civil and criminal defense. He is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board on Attorney Certification. He has tried numerous cases in the United States District Courts and the Courts of New Jersey, in the areas of personal injury, worker’s compensation, employment discrimination, and civil rights violations. He is a faculty member of the Ocean County Police Academy, and represents several municipalities.

From the trial level to the Supreme Court of New Jersey, he has represented numerous individuals, municipalities, police departments’ public officials, and police officers. He is often called upon to give advice to police departments in an assortment of matters, and is a certified police academy instructor. His knowledge of proper police procedure and the laws involving Arrest, Search and Seizure have contributed to his success as a defense attorney.

As a former municipal public defender and with his firm, Mr. Ryan provides a vigorous defense for his clients, while maintaining the highest ethics. He was appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to a four year term to investigate and prosecute complaints against attorneys accused of ethical misconduct.

• 1996 Mr. Ryan successfully defended a local police officer during a jury trial on criminal charges of sexual assault, aggravated assault and terroristic threats. The case gained widespread media attention, as it was one of the first cases where the State attempted to utilize the "battered woman's syndrome" on behalf of the prosecution and against a defendant.
